Visiting a church’s worship service for the first time can be intimidating. Hopefully, this information will help you to know what to expect. We love in-person and online visitors!

What do I wear?

We really don’t care what you wear. A few people “dress up”. Most do not. There really is no “unwritten” dress code. Wear what makes you feel comfortable. Use your best judgment. 

Where do I go when I arrive?

When you arrive, there are two doors that you can use to enter the church building. The front door, facing the street (Long Plains Road) opens to a small area with stairs that lead up to the worship space (sanctuary). Many of the church regulars use the side door, which is accessed from the parking lot towards the rear of the building. You can also use this door to enter the fellowship area.

How can I get upstairs if I cannot climb stairs?

We have an elevator! If you would like to use the elevator, the best way to come in is through the side door, which is accessed from the parking lot toward the rear of the building. Many of the church regulars use this side door, and someone should be there to help you use the elevator. 

Will I be expected to give money or an offering?

We don’t take an offering during our worship service. Instead, we have offering plates located at the front and back of the sanctuary. Give if you would like, but no one will ask or expect you to give.

What is the worship service like?

We are a small and friendly multi-generational church. You will be greeted as you enter the sanctuary, and people in the congregation will probably introduce themselves to you before or after the worship service. Don’t worry- we won’t make you stand up and introduce yourself!

You will be given a bulletin that provides the order of worship, including words of prayers and where to find the words for hymns. The words are also projected onto the wall. Bibles are provided in the pews if you would like to use one. Our worship style is mostly traditional, though we also sing some contemporary worship songs. In the middle of the worship time, we invite people to share their praises and prayer requests. We encourage active participation, and can be both silly and serious at times.

The pastor’s sermon focuses on the stories and teachings of the Bible, applying what we learn to everyday life. She tries to help the congregation to really understand and connect with the Bible in a personal way. Most sermons are about 25 minutes long. The entire worship service usually lasts about 60 to 70 minutes. After the worship time, everyone is invited downstairs for refreshments and fellowship. We are known for having lots of great food!
